ABOUT SALT ‘N LIGHT YOUTH MINISTRY AND OUR INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS:
Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry is a non-profit organization, based in Camp Hill, PA, that serves youth groups, youth leaders, and students with events and resources. Our organization provides events for students and leaders to attend, as well as a ministry team that travels to churches and camps to lead events and activities for students typically grades 6-12. Our vision statement is “Youth reaching youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” What makes Salt ‘n Light special is that we have a team every year of interns who are young, ages 16-24, who are truly salt and light. These young people are the ones who lead the events and activities Salt ‘n Light hosts. As an intern, they gain valuable ministry experience in planning, preaching, leading, team work, and using the creative arts as a means for sharing the Gospel message. Also, as an intern, they are living out our vision of being young people who empower their peers to be salt and light wherever they are! Year-round, Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry has four Core Staff members: an Executive Director, A Director of Creative Arts, A Director of Production and Media, and a Director of Community Partnerships. We offer two exciting internship programs:
Summer Internship Program: all positions will be filled no later than March 1st.
- Takes place for eight weeks in the summer, early June-early August. Interns get two weeks off during that timeframe.
- A summer schedule includes an opening week of Team Building time and training. From there, the team travels to various locations for worship nights or youth group-style leadership. The team hosts some camps where interns are camp counselors. Additionally, Salt ‘n Light hosts regular “Salt ‘n Light Serves” events for groups to serve locally, interns are leaders at these. In July, Salt ‘n Light leads an indoor/outdoor worship and arts festival. The team offers all of the leadership for the programming.
- Interns learn preaching, creative arts, teamwork, and youth ministry leadership skills. Some members of the team are also part of the Salt ‘n Light Worship Band. We place an emphasis on creativity and the arts, because it is a conviction and calling upon Salt ‘n Light! We include the arts in what we do, as we’ve seen it open the door to rich and fruitful Gospel-focused experiences for students.
September-May Internship Program: all positions will be filled no later than August 1st.
- This program starts in September and ends at the end of May. It is a lighter schedule than a summer internship position. However, there are still regular commitments.
- Interns will participate in our monthly Salt ‘n Light Serves events, weekend fall or spring retreats for youth groups, Battleball (think Dodgeball!) tournaments, fundraising events, worship nights, and our winter youth group conference “Zeteo.” Zeteo is a weekend conference in Lancaster for groups. We host worship and a guest speaker, as well as sharing an original drama that unfolds in four parts over the weekend.
We will fill our internship positions on a rolling basis, once spots are filled, our website will indicate that.
