Thank you for your interest in the Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry Summer Internship and Mentee Program! We’re honored that you’re taking the time to explore what God might have in store for you.
Every summer, God brings together a team of approximately 10–15 students and young adults (ages 15–24) who are passionate about following Jesus and sharing His love with others. Together, they live out our vision of “Youth Reaching Youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.”
A Salt ‘n Light internship is much more than a summer job. It’s an opportunity to grow in your faith, develop leadership skills, discover your gifts, build lifelong friendships, and serve alongside a team that desires to make Christ known through creativity, worship, service, and authentic relationships.

Internship Application Timeline
We review internship applications in two rounds. This allows our staff to prayerfully consider every application and give each applicant thoughtful attention.
Option One
Applicants who submit their application by December 7 and are selected to continue in the process will be invited to interview virtually during the week of December 14–18. Interviews will be conducted in the evenings via Google Meet, and invited applicants will be able to choose from available interview times.
Option Two
Applicants who submit their application by February 19 and are selected to continue in the process will be invited to interview virtually during the week of March 1-6.
Because of the number of applications we receive and our desire to give each applicant careful consideration, not every applicant will be invited to interview. Every application is reviewed, and all applicants will receive communication regarding the status of their application. Thank you for understanding!
We will decide our Summer 2027 team by April 1, 2027.

Before You Apply…
A few things to know before completing your application:
- Summer interns and mentees receive a regular honorarium throughout the summer internship.
- Interns and mentees receive training in youth ministry, trauma-informed care, Safe Sanctuary practices, mandated reporting, and other ministry leadership topics.
- Every intern is given responsibilities that reflect their unique gifts, interests, and areas of growth. However, all members of the team are expected to uphold general team needs and responsibilities.
- Applicants under 18 who move forward in the process will receive additional parent or guardian paperwork. Mentees who are 15 will have parental/guardian meetings with staff.
- We will communicate with every applicant regarding the status of their application.
About Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry
Salt ‘n Light Youth Ministry is a Christian nonprofit organization based in Central Pennsylvania that exists to provide events, resources, encouragement, and leadership development for middle school and high school students, youth leaders, churches, and camps.
Throughout the year we host events, retreats, worship gatherings, and service opportunities while also traveling to churches and camps to lead worship, creative arts, teaching, games, and youth programming.
Our ministry is unique because our interns aren’t simply assisting behind the scenes, they are leading ministry. Interns help plan events, teach God’s Word, lead worship, perform original creative arts, mentor students, facilitate small groups, create media content, pray with young people, and serve wherever they’re needed.
At Salt ‘n Light, we believe young people can have a powerful impact on other young people when they are rooted in Christ and empowered to use their gifts for His Kingdom.
FAST FACTS:
- Our Summer Internship takes place for eight weeks. This upcoming summer our ministry season will begin early June 2027- early August 2027. Interns get two separate weeks off during that timeframe.
- This is a multi-ministry training position. Interns will serve in a variety of different ministry capacities throughout the internship. These responsibilities will include youth ministry, kids ministry, administrative work, teaching, planning, media, production, camp counseling, prayer, worship leading through music, worship leading through drama and dance, service leadership, fundraising, networking, social media, creating resource content and more.
- A summer schedule includes an opening week of Team Building time and training. From there, the team travels to various locations for worship nights or youth group-style leadership. The team hosts some camps where interns are camp counselors. Additionally, Salt ‘n Light hosts regular “Salt ‘n Light Serves” events for groups to serve locally, interns are leaders at these. In July, Salt ‘n Light leads an indoor/outdoor worship and arts festival. The team offers all of the leadership for the programming.
- Our team places an place an emphasis on creativity and the arts, because it is a conviction and calling upon Salt ‘n Light! We include the arts in what we do, as we’ve seen it open the door to rich and fruitful Gospel-focused experiences for students.
- PLEASE NOTE: We provide transportation to all of our events, and we leave as a team from the general Camp Hill or Enola area. If you are not local to Central, PA, we will provide you a host family to stay with during the summer, no charge to you. Your meals and transportation are provided on work days.

About the Mentee Program:
In 2026, we launched our new Summer Mentee Program. This is an opportunity for 15-16 year olds to experience a unique version of the internship program. The mentee program focuses on mentorship and allows us to really live out our vision of “Youth Reaching Youth with the Gospel of Jesus Christ,” on an internal level! Mentees are still paid an honorarium. They will do a version of the summer schedule tailored to their gifts, learning goals, and age. We only have a limited number of mentee spots available.
